2024 NFL Mock Draft: Seahawks Go Defense Heavy
Seahawks Prioritize Defense in Latest Mock Draft
Seattle Targets Pass Rush, Secondary Help in First Two Rounds
The Seattle Seahawks have a lot of holes to fill on their roster, but they appear to be prioritizing defense in the early rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft.
In a recent mock draft by Pro Football Network, the Seahawks select edge rusher Nolan Smith from Georgia with the No. 5 overall pick and cornerback Cam Smith from South Carolina with the No. 20 overall pick.
Smith is a dynamic pass rusher who had 10.5 sacks and 17 tackles for loss in 2022. He would be a major upgrade for a Seahawks defense that struggled to generate pressure on the quarterback last season.
Cam Smith is a talented cornerback who had three interceptions and nine pass breakups in 2022. He would help to improve a Seahawks secondary that was one of the worst in the NFL last season.
The Seahawks also added some depth to their defense in the later rounds of the mock draft, selecting linebacker Trenton Simpson from Clemson with the No. 37 overall pick and safety Jaylon Jones from Texas A&M with the No. 52 overall pick.
Overall, this mock draft shows that the Seahawks are serious about improving their defense in 2024. They have a lot of young talent on that side of the ball, but they need to add some more proven players if they want to compete for a playoff spot.
