Champions League: Leverkusen star Xhaka issues warning to Liverpool and star striker Salah
Xhaka wary of Salah's threat ahead of Liverpool clash
Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka has warned Liverpool and star striker Mohamed Salah ahead of their Champions League clash on Wednesday.
The two sides will meet at Anfield in the first leg of their last-16 tie, and Xhaka is well aware of the threat that Salah poses.
Salah has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season, and Xhaka knows that he will need to be at his best to stop the Egyptian international.
"Salah is a world-class player," said Xhaka.
"He's very quick, he's very strong, and he's very good at finishing.
"We'll need to be very careful of him on Wednesday.
"We need to make sure that we don't give him any space to run into, and we need to make sure that we close him down quickly.
"If we can do that, then we'll have a good chance of winning the game."
Leverkusen will be hoping to cause an upset against Liverpool, who are one of the favorites to win the Champions League this season.
However, Xhaka knows that his team will need to play at their best if they want to get a result at Anfield.
"We're going to need to be at our best on Wednesday," said Xhaka.
"We're going to need to play as a team, and we're going to need to fight for every ball.
"If we can do that, then we have a chance of getting a result.
"We're up for the challenge, and we're looking forward to the game."
