Dembele shines as Bayern Munich wins, Dortmund loses
Bayern Munich extended their Bundesliga lead with an impressive 4-0 victory over Hoffenheim on Saturday, while Borussia Dortmund suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Augsburg.
Bayern Munich were in control from the start at the Allianz Arena, and they took the lead after just 17 minutes when Leroy Sane fired home from close range. Serge Gnabry doubled Bayern's advantage just before half-time, and Robert Lewandowski made it 3-0 with a penalty early in the second half.
Thomas Muller completed the scoring for Bayern with a fine strike from outside the area, and the German champions are now six points clear of Dortmund at the top of the table.
Meanwhile, Dortmund were stunned by Augsburg at the Signal Iduna Park. The visitors took the lead after just 13 minutes when Florian Niederlechner converted a penalty, and they doubled their advantage just before half-time through André Hahn.
Dortmund pulled one back through Jude Bellingham in the second half, but they were unable to find an equaliser, and they have now lost three of their last four Bundesliga matches.
Dembele shines in Bayern victory
Ousmane Dembele was in impressive form for Bayern Munich against Hoffenheim, providing two assists and scoring one of the goals himself.
The French winger has been in excellent form for Bayern since joining the club from Barcelona in the summer, and he is now one of the most dangerous players in the Bundesliga.
Dembele's performance against Hoffenheim was a reminder of his quality, and he will be key to Bayern's hopes of winning the Bundesliga title this season.
Dortmund lose ground in title race
Dortmund's defeat to Augsburg was a major setback in their title race with Bayern Munich.
The Black and Yellows are now six points behind Bayern, and they have a difficult run of fixtures coming up, including matches against RB Leipzig and Manchester City.
Dortmund will need to improve their form quickly if they want to challenge Bayern for the title this season.
