Donald Trump announces 2024 White House run
Former US President Donald Trump has announced his bid for the White House in 2024.
In a video posted on his social media accounts, Trump said he is running for president "to make America great and glorious again."
Trump, a Republican, served as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021. He lost his re-election bid to Democrat Joe Biden in 2020.
Trump has repeatedly hinted at a possible presidential run in 2024, but he had not officially announced his candidacy until now.
In his announcement video, Trump touted his accomplishments in office, including the passage of tax cuts, the appointment of conservative judges, and the construction of a wall on the US-Mexico border.
He also attacked Biden, saying that the current president has "destroyed" the US economy and "surrendered" to America's enemies.
Trump's announcement is likely to shake up the Republican presidential primary field. Several other Republicans, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence, are also considering running for president.
The 2024 presidential election is scheduled for November 5, 2024.
