Florida 2024 Primary Date Set
Voters to Cast Ballots on August 27
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida voters will cast ballots in the state's presidential primary election on August 27, 2024, according to a date set by state officials on Tuesday.
The date is in line with the state's efforts to move its primary up in the presidential election calendar, giving Florida more influence in choosing the major party nominees.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) has not yet announced the schedule for its 2024 primary calendar, but Florida is expected to be one of the early states to vote.
In 2020, Florida held its presidential primary on March 17, the same day as Illinois and Ohio.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has not yet announced its 2024 primary calendar either, but it is expected to be similar to the 2020 calendar, which featured early contests in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina.
