Foden's Early Opener Canceled Out by Gyokeres as Half-Time Arrives in Stuttgart
Manchester City and Coventry Play Out Entertaining First Half
Manchester City and Coventry City played out an entertaining first half in their pre-season friendly in Stuttgart, with the sides level at 1-1 at the break. Phil Foden gave City the lead early on, but Viktor Gyokeres equalized for Coventry just before the half-hour mark.
Foden Strikes First for City
City took the lead in the 10th minute when Foden fired home from close range after being set up by Riyad Mahrez. The England international has been in impressive form during pre-season and continued that form with a well-taken goal.
Gyokeres Levels for Coventry
Coventry responded well to going behind and drew level in the 28th minute. Gyokeres pounced on a loose ball in the City defense and fired home from just inside the area. The Swedish striker has been in good form for Coventry in the Championship and showed his quality with a clinical finish.
Even Contest in Stuttgart
The game has been evenly contested so far, with both sides having chances to score. City have had the better of the possession, but Coventry have been dangerous on the counterattack. The second half promises to be just as entertaining as the first.
