Giants Avoid No-Hitter With 2 Out Single in 9th

Giants Win 1-0

Giants Win Game 48 of the 2023 Season

Logan Webb and three relievers combined on a four-hitter as the San Francisco Giants avoided a no-hitter with a two-out single in the ninth inning to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 1-0 on Wednesday night.

The Giants improved to 48-39 on the season, while the Dodgers fell to 52-36.

Webb allowed one hit in six innings. He walked three and struck out eight.

Relievers Tyler Rogers, Camilo Doval and John Brebbia combined to allow three hits in the final three innings.

The Giants had just one hit through the first eight innings against Dodgers starter Julio Urias and two relievers.

With two outs in the ninth, pinch-hitter Austin Slater singled to right field off reliever Phil Bickford to break up Urias’s no-hit bid.

Slater moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on Brandon Crawford’s single to center field.

The Dodgers put two runners on with two outs in the ninth, but Brebbia got Trayce Thompson to ground out to end the game.

The Giants have won four of their last five games and are now 11-4 against the Dodgers this season.

Logan Webb Continues to Impress

Logan Webb has been one of the Giants’ most consistent pitchers this season.

The 26-year-old right-hander has a 3.05 ERA in 18 starts this season.

Webb has allowed two or fewer runs in 13 of his 18 starts this season.

Giants Avoid Costly Loss

The Giants entered Wednesday’s game with a 47-39 record, just 2.5 games ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers for the final Wild Card spot in the National League.

A loss to the Dodgers would have dropped the Giants to 3.5 games behind the Brewers.

The Giants’ win keeps them in a good position to make the playoffs.

Giants Don’t Get No-Hit

The Giants avoided becoming the first team to be no-hit in the Major Leagues this season.

The last team to be no-hit was the Chicago Cubs on August 25, 2021, by the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Giants are now 1-1 against the Dodgers this season.
