More Arkansans Vote Early in 2022 Than in 2020
Voter turnout is up in Arkansas, with more people casting their ballots early in the 2022 election than in 2020.
As of October 31, 2022, over 310,000 Arkansans had already voted early, compared to just over 230,000 at the same point in the 2020 election.
There are a number of factors that could be contributing to the increase in early voting, including:
- The convenience of early voting. Voters can cast their ballots at any early voting location in their county, and they do not have to wait until Election Day to do so.
- The importance of this election. The 2022 election is a critical one, with races for governor, U.S. Senate, and other important offices on the ballot.
- The desire to avoid long lines on Election Day. In 2020, many voters reported waiting in long lines to cast their ballots on Election Day. Early voting can help to avoid these lines.
Whatever the reason, the increase in early voting is a positive sign for democracy.
It shows that Arkansans are engaged in the political process and that they are taking advantage of the opportunity to make their voices heard.
Hopefully, this trend will continue on Election Day, and we will see a high voter turnout in Arkansas.
