Pharrell Williams Recalls Getting Fired from McDonald's Three Times

Williams fired for singing

In an interview with GQ, Pharrell Williams revealed that he was fired from McDonald's three times. The first time, he was fired for singing while he was working the drive-thru. "I was singing along to the radio, and the manager came over and said, 'You can't be singing while you're working,'" Williams said. "I was like, 'Why not?' And he said, 'Because it's annoying the customers.'" Williams was also fired for wearing a hat that he had made himself. The manager said that the hat was "too distracting" for the customers.

Williams fired for being late

The third time Williams was fired, he was late for work. "I was supposed to be there at 6 am, and I didn't get there until 6:15," Williams said. "The manager was really mad, and he said, 'You're fired.' I was like, 'What? Why?' And he said, 'Because you're late.'" Williams says even though he was fired three times, he still looks back on his time at McDonald's fondly. "It was a great experience," he said. "I learned a lot about customer service and how to work hard. And I wouldn't trade it for anything."

Williams' success

Since being fired from McDonald's, Williams has gone on to become one of the most successful musicians and producers in the world. He has won 13 Grammy Awards, and he has produced hits for artists such as Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and Rihanna. Williams is also a successful businessman, and he has his own clothing line and record label. Despite his success, Williams has never forgotten his roots. He often speaks about his time at McDonald's, and he even donated $1 million to the company's Ronald McDonald House Charities in 2018.
