Transfer Rumours: Manchester United eye Sporting winger Quenda with Antony future in doubt
Erik ten Hag is eager to add to his attacking options amid talk of Antony heading for Stamford Bridge
Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Sporting's Matheus Quenda as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his attacking options. The Red Devils have been linked with a number of wingers in recent weeks, with Antony of Ajax said to be a top target. However, the Brazilian's future is in doubt after he was left out of Ajax's squad for their pre-season tour of the United States.
Ten Hag is a big admirer of Quenda, who has impressed for Sporting over the past two seasons.
The 22-year-old winger has scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in 44 appearances for the Portuguese giants. He is also a regular for the Brazil under-21 team. Quenda would be a relatively inexpensive option for United, with Sporting reportedly willing to sell him for around £25 million.
A move for Quenda would make sense for United, who are in need of wide players.
Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford have been in poor form for much of the past season, and Anthony Martial is expected to leave the club this summer. Quenda is a versatile player who can play on either flank, and he would provide Ten Hag with another option in attack.
However, United may face competition for Quenda's signature.
The winger is also said to be a target for Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle United. It remains to be seen whether United can convince Quenda to move to Old Trafford, but he would be a welcome addition to Ten Hag's squad.
