U.S. Presidential Election 2024 Timeline
Primary Elections and Caucuses
The 2024 U.S. presidential primaries and caucuses will begin in early 2024. The first contest will be the Iowa caucuses, which are scheduled for February 1, 2024. Following Iowa, the New Hampshire primary will be held on February 8, 2024.
The remaining primaries and caucuses will be held throughout the spring and early summer of 2024. The final primary is expected to be held in June 2024.
National Conventions
The Republican and Democratic National Conventions will be held in the summer of 2024. The Republican National Convention is scheduled to be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from July 15-18, 2024. The Democratic National Convention will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from July 22-25, 2024.
At their respective conventions, the Republican and Democratic parties will nominate their candidates for president and vice president.
General Election
The general election for president of the United States will be held on November 5, 2024. In order to win the presidency, a candidate must receive a majority of the electoral votes.
If no candidate receives a majority of the electoral votes, the House of Representatives will choose the president from among the three candidates who received the most electoral votes.
Inauguration
The president-elect will be inaugurated on January 20, 2025. The inauguration will take place at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
At the inauguration, the president-elect will take the oath of office and deliver an inaugural address.
