Impact of Redistricting
Texas gained two congressional seats in the 2020 census, increasing the number of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives from 36 to 38. The Texas Legislature passed a new redistricting plan in 2021, which has resulted in some changes to the boundaries of congressional districts.
The new redistricting plan has been challenged in court, and it is possible that the boundaries of some congressional districts could change again before the 2024 elections.
